Why do dog training classes?
In addition to getting a well trained well behaved dog, training builds engagement between you and your pupper which strengthens the bond of trust and respect.
What is included in your group classes?
Each dog enrolled in a group class gets a free professional digital graduation portrait of your dog taken on graduation day!
What should I bring to class?
A 6 foot leash with a flat collar, a treat pouch and lots of your most delicious and enticing dog treats!
Should I feed my dog before class?
A dog with a full belly may not be as interested in working for the treats you are offering so we recommend waiting until after class to feed your pup his/her meal or better yet bring their food to class and feed them while you train!
What if my dog has aggression issues?
Group classes are for dogs that are friendly with other dogs and people. If your pooch is reactive or aggressive with other dogs and/or people you should book a Behaviour Consultation Session so that our trainer can help resolve these issues with you before moving forward with group classes.
Can I bring my family to watch the class?
Yes, we love it when other family members come along as consistency is key and all family members will need to work together to teach your doggo!
Can my child train our dog in class?
While it's important for children to learn how to take the lead with their doggo friends, for safety reasons we require handlers in class to be at least 16 years of age.
How do I get a discount on group classes for my rescue dog from HSKL?
When submitting your registration questionnaire be sure to indicate YES to this question and we'll be sure to give you the 25% off your registration fee.
What vaccinations does my dog need for group classes?
We follow a core vaccination schedule in which a dog should be up to date on their Distemper, Parvovirus and Rabies shots.
Dogs 10-12 weeks should have at least one Distemper/Parvo vaccine.
Dogs 12 - 16 weeks should have their second Distemper/Parvo vaccine.
Dogs 16 weeks and older should have their two vaccines and a Rabies vaccine given between 4 - 6 months.
I am thinking of adopting a dog and have some questions about how to establish trust and a bond with my rescue. Can you help?

Do I really get a graduation portrait of my pooch with every class I take?
YES! Not only are we professional dog trainers, we are also photographers and will take a beautiful professional portrait of your pup on graduation day, for you to share on social media, print and frame and cherish for many years to come.
